ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਚਰਨ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਿ ॥

I seek the Sanctuary of the happy soul-brides; I place my head upon their feet.
ਲਾਲਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ॥
laalan mohi milaavhu.
Unite me with my Beloved.
ਕਬ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਰੀ ॥੧॥
kab ghar aavai ree. ||1||
When will He come to my home? ||1||

I go to those whose hearts are already joined to the One and lay my head at their feet.
Bring me together with the One I love. When will He come home to me?
When you want to reach something good, learn from those who found the way.
saran suhaagan -- taking refuge with the happy soul-brides, those already united with the Beloved. charan sees dhar -- laying the head at their feet, an image of humble asking. When you long for something good, you seek out those who have already found it.
