Those humble beings who seek the Lord's Sanctuary are saved, like Prahlaad; they are emancipated and merge with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Remember the One, the Master of the whole world.

Whoever comes to the One for shelter is saved, the way Prahlaad was saved and became one with the One.

*Ask for shelter, and shelter is given.*
The deeper layer

Whoever takes shelter in the One is carried through, as Prahlaad was.

This is the rahau (the pause -- the hinge line of the whole hymn). jap jagannaath calls on the Lord of all worlds. Prahlaad is named as one who was carried through danger by that shelter; the accent is on rescue and safety, the promise the rest of the song keeps returning to.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel small or scared, who do you turn to first?
