Sikhism·Raag Bilaaval·Shabad 159
Verse 8 of 9

In Water, Land, and Sky

dukh deen darad nivaar.
He is the Destroyer of the pains and sorrows of the poor.
jaa kee mahaa bikh-rhee kaar.
It is so very difficult to serve Him.
taa kee mit na jaanai ko-ay.
No one knows His limits.
jal thal mahee-al so-ay. ||7||
He is pervading the water, the land and the sky. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One takes away the pain and sorrow of those who feel small and low.

It is not easy to serve the One, and no one can measure how great He is -- yet He is right here, filling the water, the land, and the sky.

*The One too vast to measure is also right here, everywhere.*
The deeper layer

dukh deen darad nivaar -- remover of the sorrows of the humble. mit na jaanai ko-ay -- no one knows His limits. jal thal mahee-al so-ay -- pervading water, land and sky; the immeasurable One is also the ever-present One.
