Thirsty for One Glimpse

har gun niDhay gopaal.
The Lord, the treasure of virtue, the Lord of the world,
sarab ghat partipaal.
cherishes and and sustains every heart.
man pareet darsan pi-aas.
My mind is thirsty for Your Love, and the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
gobind pooran aas.
O Lord of the Universe, please fulfill my hopes.
ik nimakh rahan na jaa-ay.
I cannot survive, even for an instant.
vad bhaag naanak paa-ay. ||5||
By great good fortune, Nanak has found the Lord. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One is the treasure of all that is good, caring for and holding up every single heart.

My heart is thirsty for just one glimpse -- please fill my hopes. I can hardly last a moment without it. Nanak says: by great good luck I have found the One.

*One true glimpse of what you love can feel worth everything.*
The deeper layer

sarab ghat partipaal -- sustaining every heart. darsan pi-aas -- thirst for a glimpse. vad bhaag naanak paa-ay -- finding the One is great good fortune, grace received, not a reward earned.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing you'd wait a long time just to see or be near?
