Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
On the seventh day, imagine filling up inside with truth and a deep contentment. It is like seven clear seas brimming with clean water.
The bath that makes you clean is kind, honest living, with the One held quietly in your heart.
When your mind and your words both carry the One, you move through the world with a clear signal that nothing can block. And through the Guru's Word, you help others across the hard places too.
The truest bath is good living, with Truth held in the heart.
This is the seventh day, saptamee. Saptamee sat santokh sareer — the body is filled with sat, truth, and santokh, contentment. Then saat samund bharay nirmal neer — the seven seas inside fill with clean water. Picture a glass of water left still until everything settles and it is clear all the way down.
Majan seel — the real majan, or bath, is seel, good conduct. In Guru Nanak's time, many people went to holy rivers to wash. Guru Nanak gently moves the holy place from the riverbank to the heart. He makes the same move in Baarah Maaha, the song of the twelve months.
Gur kai sabad paavai sabh paar — through the Guru's Word, such a person carries everyone across. This is not only for yourself. Sach neesaanai thaak na paa-ay — carrying the flag of truth, nothing blocks your way.
What makes you feel clean and clear on the inside?
