The same Light fills all three worlds — above, below, and here. It lives in every single heart, unseen and endless.
When I quietly let go of the loud feeling that I am separate and all-important, I meet that Light. The Word washes off greed and clinging like dust rinsing away.
Standing at the One's door, I get to see what I longed to see, and I am carried gently across. Tasting the sweetness of the Name, I feel full. Nanak says: I hold the One close in my heart.
The same Light shines in every heart.
Jot sabaa-irhee-ay taribhavan saaray raam means the Lord's jot, His Light, fills all three worlds. Ghat ghat rav rahi-aa alakh apaaray raam means He lives in each and every heart, alakh, unseen, and apaar, without end. Think of one song playing in every room of the house at once.
How do we meet that Light? Aap maar means by quieting the self. It means gently letting go of haumai, the loud feeling that I am separate and the most important one. Ha-umai mamtaa lobh jaalahu means burn away pride, clinging and greed. Then the Word washes the dirt away, like mud rinsed off your shoes.
Then she comes to the Lord's door and sees Him. By His will, the taar taaranhaari-aa, the One who ferries us across, carries her over. Har naam amrit chaakh means tasting the sweet amrit of the Name. She is full, and she holds the One close in her heart.
If the same Light is in everyone, how might that change the way you treat someone today?
