In plain words

Know this deep down: when you stop clutching at things — money, belongings, even the people you love — as if they were the whole point, you make room for something greater.

Kabir says: listen, saints — love your family, enjoy what you have, and keep the One at the center. There you meet the One who holds the whole world.

Loosen your grip, and you find the One you were reaching for.
The deeper layer

putr kaltr lachhimee maa-i-aa ihai tajahu — "renouncing" here means non-clinging, not abandonment; family and wealth are not evil, but they cannot be the soul's true home. milihai saarigpaanee — you meet the Sustainer of the world. Kahat kabeer — "says Kabir" — and the last word is a loosened grip.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you would have a hard time loosening your grip on?
