Crazy With Love

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ॥
bilaaval.
Bilaaval:
ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨ ਪਰਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
bidi-aa na para-o baad nahee jaan-o.
I do not read books of knowledge, and I do not understand the debates.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਕਥਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਬਉਰਾਨੋ ॥੧॥
har gun kathat sunat ba-uraano. ||1||
I have gone insane, chanting and hearing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

In plain words

I never learned all the fancy books or how to win arguments. That is just not me.

But sing about the Wonder of the One and I light up — people might call me a little crazy, and I am happy to be.

You do not have to win debates to be full of wonder.
The deeper layer

bidiaa na para-o baad nahee jaan-o — no scholarly reading, no debating. bauraano — "gone mad" with love: the ecstatic, non-intellectual path. Tasting the One comes before arguing about the One — the har ras teaching (the meal, not the menu).

A Question to Sit With

What is something that fills you with joy even if you cannot explain it in words?
