Blended Into the One

ਨਾਮਦੇਇ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥
naamday-ay simran kar jaanaaN.
Meditating in remembrance, Naam Dayv has come to know the Lord.
ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੀਉ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥੧॥
jagjeevan si-o jee-o samaanaaN. ||2||1||
His soul is blended with the Lord, the Life of the World. ||2||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Namdev says, by remembering the One, quietly and steadily, I have come to know the One.

My soul has blended into the Life of the World, like a stream slipping into the sea.

Keeping the One in mind, quietly, is how you come to know the One.
The deeper layer

naamday-ay simran kar jaanaaN — through simran (loving remembrance) Namdev knew, not merely believed. jagjeevan si-o jee-o samaanaaN — the soul merges with jagjeevan, the Life of the World. Remembrance ends in union.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you understood deeply only after spending real time with it?
