In plain words

The people we love — parents, family, friends — and all the things we gather up: they walk with us for a while, and we are lucky to have them. But there is a deep place inside where each of us has to stand on our own.

What steadies you there is what you grow inside, with the One held in your heart. In the Sangat, every ache is cleared away.

Cherish the people around you — and also grow the steadiness inside that is yours to keep.
The deeper layer

Maat pitaa sut saath na maa-i-aa — mother, father, children, and wealth do not finally go along. Loved ones stay dear; there is still a deep, inward place each person meets alone, and what one carries there is the Name held within. Saadhsang sabh dookh mitaa-i-aa — in the Sangat, every ache is cleared.

The Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — is where that inner steadiness grows.

A Question to Sit With

What is something no one can carry for you — something you have to grow on your own inside?
