Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਹ ਬਿਹੂਨਾ ॥
mohi nirgun sabh gunah bihoonaa.
I am worthless, totally lacking all virtues.
ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
da-i-aa Dhaar apunaa kar leenaa. ||1||
Bless me with Your Mercy, and make me Your Own. ||1||

In plain words

I will be honest — I do not come with a long list of good qualities to show off. My hands are pretty empty.

But that is exactly why I turn to You: be kind, and claim me as Yours anyway. You do not wait for me to be impressive first.

You do not have to arrive impressive — the One claims you exactly as you are, empty hands and all.
The deeper layer

Mohi nirgun sabh gunah bihoonaa — I am without merits, empty of virtues. It is an honest word about empty hands, free of self-contempt. Da-i-aa dhaar apunaa kar leenaa — showing mercy, You made me Your own. The grace comes first and unconditionally; the One does not wait for the seeker to become worthy before claiming them.

A Question to Sit With

Do you ever feel you have to earn being loved? What if you did not?
