The One Who Melts Fear

ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਭੈ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
bhagat vachhal bhai kaatanhaaray.
He is the Lover and Protector of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਅਬ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
sansaar saagar ab utray paaray. ||2||
Now, I have been carried across the world-ocean. ||2||

In plain words

The One loves the ones who love it, and stands guard over them like the safest arms you can imagine — and fear just melts in that presence.

With that at my back, the huge sea I was struggling in? I have been carried clear across it, safe on the far shore.

Fear melts in the presence of the One who loves you — and carries you clear across.
The deeper layer

Bhagat vachhal bhai kaatanhaaray — the One cherishes its devotees and cuts away fear. Fearlessness (nirbhau) here is relational: fear dissolves in the safety of being loved and guarded. Sansaar saagar ab utray paaray — now the world-ocean is crossed; the struggle in the water ends in arrival.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel safe with someone, what happens to your fear? Where does it go?
