The One Who Lifts The Fallen

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਬੇਦਿ ਲੇਖਿਆ ॥
patit paavan parabh birad bayd laykhi-aa.
It is God's Way to purify sinners, say the Vedas.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਪੇਖਿਆ ॥੩॥
paarbarahm so nainhu paykhi-aa. ||3||
I have seen the Supreme Lord with my eyes. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This is simply the One's nature — written deep in the oldest wisdom there is: it lifts up the ones who have fallen, and makes them new. That is just who it is.

And this is not only something I read about. With my own eyes, in my own heart, I have seen that One.

Lifting up the fallen is simply who the One is.
The deeper layer

Patit paavan prabh birad bayd laykhi-aa — it is the One's birad (its very nature, its way) to lift the fallen, and this is written in the Veds. The Veds are named with respect, as an ancient witness. Paarbarahm so nainhu paykhi-aa — and the seeker has seen this One directly, not merely read of it: knowing by sight, not hearsay.

A Question to Sit With

Has anyone ever helped you back up not because you earned it, but just because that is who they are?
