Verse 2 of 5

Let Go Of The Tangles

ਭਜੁ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਭ ਛੋਡਿ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
bhaj gobid sabh chhod janjaal.
Meditate, vibrate on the Lord of the Universe, and renounce all entanglements.
jab jam aa-ay sanghaarai moorhay tab tan binas jaa-ay bayhaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When the Messenger of Death comes to murder you, O fool, then your body will be shattered and helplessly crumble. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Remember the One, and let go of all the tangles.

One day death comes, and this body cannot stay. My friend, hold the One close now.

Our days are a gift, not a given — so hold the One close now, and travel light.
The deeper layer

Remember the One, and let go of the tangles. Bhaj gobid sabh chhod janjaal — keep the One in mind and loosen every knot. Then a plain word about death: one day the body cannot stay. Our days are a gift, so hold the One close now and travel light. The sharp word moorhay, "fool," becomes a friend's honest reminder to yourself.

A Question to Sit With

If you knew your time was precious, what tangles might you gently let go of?
