The Unspoken Sweetness

ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
akath kathaa amrit parabh baanee.
The Ambrosial Bani of God's Word is the Unspoken Speech.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੦॥
kaho naanak jap jeevay gi-aanee. ||2||2||20||
Says Nanak, the spiritually wise live by meditating on God. ||2||2||20||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

God's Word is nectar, a story too deep for words.

Nanak says: the wise live by remembering God.

Some of the truest things cannot be fully said — only tasted and lived.
The deeper layer

Akath kathaa — the unspeakable telling, the story too deep for words; amrit prabh baanee — the nectar Word. Kaho naanak jap jeevay gi-aanee — the wise live by holding it. Some truths are known in the tasting, not the saying.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you understand in your heart that is hard to put into words?
