Verse 2 of 3

The Aches Washed Away

ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ॥
taap paap santaap binaasay.
Sufferings, sins and afflictions have been dispelled.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
har simrat kilvikh sabh naasay. ||1||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all sinful mistakes have been erased. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The fevers of the mind — the worries, the mistakes you cannot stop replaying, the heaviness — begin to melt away.

When you turn toward the One, even the missteps you carry lose their weight, and you feel clean and new.

Turning toward the One is like setting down a weight you had been carrying too long.
The deeper layer

Taap paap santaap binaasay — fever, fault, and affliction dissolve; har simrat kilvikh sabh naasay — remembering, the old missteps are erased. Kilvikh means missteps: a weight that lifts when you remember the One.

A Question to Sit With

What is a worry you would love to set down?
