A Heart That Holds On

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਾਗ ॥
kaho naanak jaa kay nirmal bhaag.
Says Nanak, one who has such immaculate destiny
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨੀ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗ ॥੨॥੭॥੨੫॥
har charnee taa kaa man laag. ||2||7||25||
- his mind is attached to the Lord's Feet. ||2||7||25||

In plain words

Nanak says: the one whose fortune is clear and bright

holds on, heart and mind, to the feet of the One, and stays there.

A heart tilted toward the good is its own kind of good fortune.
The deeper layer

Some hearts lean toward the One on their own, the way a sunflower leans toward the sun.

Kaho naanak jaa kay nirmal bhaag — says Nanak, the one whose fortune is spotless. Nirmal means clean. Bhaag means fortune, or destiny. It is a bright inner luck, a heart already tilted toward the good.

Har charnee taa kaa man laag — that person's mind holds on to the One's feet. The feet stand for the One's presence. Think of a sunflower that turns toward the sun all day without being told.

A Question to Sit With

What do you find your attention naturally leaning toward?
