Verse 2 of 3

Eat Your Fill

ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
raj raj bhojan kaavahu mayray bhaa-ee.
Eat to your fill, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
amrit naam rid maahi Dhi-aa-ee. ||1||
Meditate on the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Eat your fill, my brothers and sisters; there is more than enough.

And hold the sweet Naam deep in your heart, where it feeds the part of you that food cannot reach.

Feed your body, yes — and feed the part of you that food cannot reach.
The deeper layer

Raj raj bhojan — eat fully, to satisfaction; amrit naam rid maahi Dhi-aa-ee — hold the nectar-Name in the heart. Two kinds of hunger, two kinds of feeding — one for the body, one for the soul. Bhaa-ee means brother, and here it calls every brother and sister to the table.

A Question to Sit With

What feeds you in a way that is not about food?
