In plain words

Say the Naam of the One who cares for the world, and your tongue grows pure.

Your mind and body come clean when you chant what the Guru gives you.

The words you say most often shape the person you become.
The deeper layer

This is the "Rahao" line, the pause, the center of the shabad. Naam kahat govind kaa soochee bha-ee rasnaa — saying the Name of the Lord makes the tongue pure. Rasnaa means the tongue, and so the words we speak.

Think of how your voice changes when you talk to a baby. It grows softer and kinder all on its own. Speaking the Name does that to everything we say.

Then: man tan nirmal ho-ee hai gur kaa jap japnaa — mind and body become clear and clean by repeating the Guru's chant. This loving remembrance is called simran. Saying the Name is a joy that clears the whole self.
