In plain words

In the end, every bit of good comes from You. You Yourself shaped this whole world.

Nanak says: when I meet the holy face to face, I cannot help but sing how wonderful You are.

Every good thing traces back to the same source.
The deeper layer

All the credit goes to the One. Sabh kichh tum hee tay ho-aa — everything has come from You. Aap banat banaa-ee — You Yourself made all that is made.

Then Guru Arjan, who signs as Nanak, says why he sings. Darsan bhaytat saadh kaa naanak gun gaa-ee — meeting the holy face to face, Nanak sings the praises of the One. Darshan means a blessed sight, a meeting in person.

Think of hearing a friend play a beautiful song, and wanting to thank the one who taught them. Praise flows from what you see in good people. The shabad closes by giving all of it back to the One.

A Question to Sit With

When you see something good in someone, where do you think it comes from?
