Letting Go of Worry

ਚਿੰਤ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਗਣਤ ਤਜਿ ਜਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
chint andaysaa ganat taj jan hukam pachhaataa.
Anxieties, worries and calculations are dismissed; the Lord's humble servant accepts the Hukam of His Command.

He does not die, and He does not leave; Nanak is attuned to His Love. ||4||18||48||

In plain words

Set down the worrying, the fretting, the endless keeping-score in your head. You can put that heavy load down.

The Guru's people know the Hukam, the Will that moves all life. The One never fades and never leaves.

Nanak says: I am colored through with the One's love.

You can set down the worrying and keeping-score — it is a heavy load to carry.
The deeper layer

Worry is a load you can put down. Chint andaysaa ganat taj — anxiety, fear and endless counting are set down. Ganat means calculations, the keeping-score that runs in your head. Jan hukam pachhaataa — the humble servant recognizes the Hukam, the Will that moves all life.

Think of the heavy school bag you finally take off after a long day. Your shoulders feel light again.

Then: nah binsai nah chhod jaa-ay — the One never fades and never leaves. Naanak rang raataa — Nanak is dyed through with the One's love. This love is a color that soaks all the way through and never washes out.

A Question to Sit With

What worry could you practice setting down, just for today?
