In plain words

The ropes that tied me up have been cut — the One turned toward me with kindness.

The One is gentle with those who feel small, and one warm glance of grace fills me with joy.

One glance of kindness can loosen a lot of knots.
The deeper layer

The ropes that held you are cut, and kindness is what cut them.

BanDhan kaatay aap parabh ho-aa kirpaal means the bonds are cut; God Himself became kind. Kirpaal means full of mercy. Think of a kite string caught in a tree. You tug and tug. Then someone taller reaches up and frees it with one easy move.

Deen da-i-aal parabh paarbarahm means the Supreme One is kind to the deen, the ones who feel small or helpless. Taa kee nadar nihaal means by His nadar, His glance of grace, I am filled with joy. Grace is a gift. We receive it; we do not earn it.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone's kindness made a hard day suddenly lighter?
