Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One is the hope and the shelter of those who love the One — there is nowhere else they need to look.

Your Name is my strength, my home, my family, my treasure — all of it, in one.

When one thing is your true home, you stop searching everywhere else.
The deeper layer

The One is our true home base. Har bhagtaa kaa aasraa an naahee thaa-o — the Lord is the hope and support of His devotees; there is no other place for them to go.

Then Guru Arjan names everything a person might lean on. Taan deebaan parvaar dhan prabh tayraa naa-o — O God, Your Name is my strength, my court, my family and my wealth. A deebaan was a royal court, a seat of power.

Think of a phone that holds your music, maps, photos and friends all in one place. The Name is like that for the heart. It is everything at once. The shabad opens on total belonging.

A Question to Sit With

What feels most like home to you, no matter where you are?
