Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have come into Your shelter, One of perfect mercy.

Whoever You protect, Keeper of the world, slips free from the world's trap.

Coming to a place of shelter is itself the first step to safety.
The deeper layer

Ta-o sarnaagat maadhvay, pooran da-i-aal — entering the refuge; chhoot jaa-ay sansaar tay, raakhai gopaal — the protected slip free of the world's traps. Everything turns toward shelter.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you go, or who do you go to, when you need shelter?
