What Fills a Restless Mind

ਆਸਾ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਭਾਨਾ ॥
aasaa bharam bikaar moh in meh lobhaanaa.
Hope, doubt, corruption and emotional attachment - in these, he is engrossed.
ਝੂਠੁ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
jhooth samagree man vasee paarbarahm na jaanaa. ||2||
The false material world abides in his mind, and he does not understand the Supreme Lord God. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Wanting, doubt, and clinging can fill up a mind until there is no room for anything else.

When only passing things sit in the heart, it is hard to notice the deep One behind them all.

A mind full of passing things has little room to notice the deep ones.
The deeper layer

Aasaa bharam bikaar moh in meh lobhaanaa — the crowding of the mind; jhooth samagree man vasee, paarbarahm na jaanaa — passing things crowd out the deep One. The clutter is what blocks recognition.

A Question to Sit With

What thoughts crowd your mind so much you cannot hear yourself think?
