Sikhism·Raag Bilaaval·Shabad 74
Verse 4 of 5

As You Hold Me, So I Live

param jot pooran purakh sabh jee-a tumHaaray.
O Perfect Lord of Supreme Light, all beings belong to You.
ji-o too raakhahi ti-o rahaa parabh agam apaaray. ||3||
As You keep us, we live, O infinite, inaccessible God. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

One of perfect light, all beings belong to You.

However You hold me, that is how I live — beyond my reach to grasp, yet holding me all the same.

Living with the flow feels lighter than fighting it.
The deeper layer

Param jot pooran purakh, sabh jee-a tumhaaray — all beings the One's; ji-o too raakhahi ti-o rahaa, prabh agam apaaray — living with the flow of existence (Hukam). Surrender read as ease, not defeat.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you cannot control that you could try to make peace with?
