Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: I take shelter with the saints who have made peace with their own minds.

They gladly give their whole selves — all they are and have — to those who love the One.

The people who have made peace with themselves are good ones to stand near.
The deeper layer

Shelter is found with those at peace with themselves. Naanak tin santan sarnaagatee jin man vas keenaa — Nanak seeks shelter with the saints who have mastered their minds. To master your mind means you steer it, instead of it steering you.

Think of a rider who stays calm while the horse wants to bolt.

Then: tan dhan sarbas aapnaa prabh jan ka-o deenaa — they give body, wealth and everything they have to God's people. Their open hands match their calm hearts. The shabad closes with those who are at peace within.

A Question to Sit With

Who do you know that seems at peace with themselves?
