Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When I make the effort to remember the One, joy shows up and I touch the very source of peace.

Keeping the Name in mind again and again, a whole and complete understanding grows.

Effort in the right direction turns quietly into joy.
The deeper layer

Udam karat aanad bha-i-aa, simrat sukh saar — effort and grace together bring joy; jap jap naam gobind kaa, pooran beechaar — remembrance ripening into full understanding. Effort matters and grace meets it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you had to work at that turned into joy?
