I am devoted to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; I have been united with my Lord. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Keeping the One in mind through the perfect Guru, there is a steady, quiet delight, day after day.

I gladly give my heart to the Sangat, where I found myself joined to the One.

Remembering the One through the Guru gives a quiet, lasting delight.
The deeper layer

Remembering brings a quiet joy that lasts.

Gur pooraa har jaapee-ai — through the perfect Guru, remember the One. Nit keechai bhog — and enjoy gladness every day. This is not a quick thrill, like the rush of a roller coaster. It is more like the steady warmth of a home where you feel safe.

SaaDhsangat is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. SaaDhsangat kai vaarnai — I give my heart to the Sangat. Mili-aa sanjog — and there I was joined to the One.

A Question to Sit With

What small daily thing gives you a quiet, steady kind of happiness?
