It felt like a hand reached down, took mine, and lifted me out of the mud — and said, you are mine now.
Nanak says: remembering again and again, my body and heart went calm, and the fear drained away.
Held that close, fear simply runs out.
When the One takes your hand, you are pulled up and out.
Baah pakarh parabh kaadhi-aa: the One took my arm and pulled me out. Keenaa apna-i-aa: and made me His own. Think of slipping at the pool, and a strong hand grabbing yours and lifting you onto the side.
Then simar simar man tan sukhee: remembering again and again, mind and body feel at peace. Naanak nirbha-i-aa: Nanak has become fearless. The fear just melts away.
