Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Lord of the world has kept my friends and dear ones safe.

Those who spoke against us have lost all their power, so do not worry.

Ill-will burns itself out; let your heart be carefree.
The deeper layer

The One keeps friends safe, so the heart can rest free of worry.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad.

Meet hamaaray saajnaa, raakhay govind: Govind, the Keeper of the world, has kept my friends safe. The next part is nindak mirtak ho-ay ga-ay. A nindak is someone who speaks badly about others. The verse says their ill-will ran out of its own life. It is like a storm that blows itself out. No one needs to cheer about it.

Then comes the gentle ending: tumH hohu nichind, so you can be free of worry.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you let a worry about someone go?
