Stubbornness Gone, Sweetness Everywhere

ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਢੀਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੂਠਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਲਗੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੀਠਾ ॥

My stubbornness is gone, Ambrosial Nectar rains down, and the Word of the Guru's Shabad seems so sweet to me.

He is pervading everywhere, in the water, on the land and in the sky; Nanak beholds the all-pervading Lord. ||4||3||

In plain words

My hard-headed stubbornness is gone; sweetness pours down like gentle rain, and the Teacher's word tastes sweet to me.

In water, on land, in the sky — filling it all — I see the One who is everywhere.

When stubbornness softens, you start to see the One who was always everywhere.
The deeper layer

When stubbornness melts, sweetness pours in, and the One is seen everywhere.

Binsi-o dheethaa — the stubborn streak is gone. Amrit voothaa — nectar rains down. Amrit is the sweet, life-giving nectar of the Name.

The shabad ends where Shabad 31 ended: with the One in jal thal mahee-al, water, land, and sky. But now it is not wonder at something far away. It is deethaa, truly seen. The heart has softened enough to notice. It is like eyes getting used to a dark room, until you can see everything in it.

A Question to Sit With

When has letting go of being stubborn helped you see something you had been missing?
