In plain words

I give my whole self to my Teacher, who planted Your Name firmly inside me.

When I was lost in a great dark wilderness, the Teacher showed me the straight way home.

A good teacher does not just point at the path — they help it take root in you.
The deeper layer

The Guru is like a guide who shows you the way home in the dark.

Baar jaa-o gur apunay oopar — I give my whole self to my Teacher, the Guru. Why? For one gift above all. The Guru darirh-aa-yaa the Name, planted it firmly, so it takes root like a strong young tree.

Mahaa udi-aan anDhkaar — a vast, dark wilderness. That is how a life without direction feels. Picture being lost in a forest at night, until someone shines a flashlight on the path. The Guru's gift is seeDhaa maarag, a straight path.

A Question to Sit With

Who has helped you find your way when you felt lost or confused?
