In plain words

My eyes feel washed clean just from catching sight of the One, from bowing my head low in humble love.

Bit by bit, with real delight, I sing the One's praises — and the One who holds the whole world settles right inside my heart.

How you see changes what you become.
The deeper layer

Seeing the One makes the eyes feel clean, and singing about the One brings the One into the heart.

Naytar puneet bha-ay daras paykhay — my eyes became pure by seeing. The word for this seeing is darshan, a blessed glimpse of the One. Think of stepping out of a stuffy room and taking your first look at a clear blue sky. Your eyes feel washed.

Then comes the singing. Ras ras gun gaava-o means singing the One's goodness with real delight, one taste after another, like a favorite dish you keep going back to.

Seeing rightly and singing with joy are two halves of one turn of the heart. And the gift that follows is hirdai bashu gopaal: the One who looks after the whole world comes to live in your heart.

A Question to Sit With

What is something beautiful you could look at today — slowly, on purpose?
