Unto each and every home, into each and every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.

Remember in meditation the One who summons us; O Nanak, that day is drawing near! ||4||1||20||

In plain words

To every home, into every heart, the call goes out -- and it comes a little closer every day. Keep in mind the One who is calling. That day is coming near.

The call home comes to everyone, a little nearer each day -- so live ready to answer it gladly.
The deeper layer

The closing of Sohila: the summons -- the call home, death -- comes to every house and every heart; none is exempt. But far from morbid, the response is to remember the One who summons: live ready, with the Name, so the call is a homecoming, not a terror (Hukam). "That day is drawing near" is the gentle urgency that closes the whole Mehl 1 sequence -- fitting, since Sikh Rehat Maryada prescribes this prayer at the cremation pyre and names it the night prayer.

A Question to Sit With

If you remembered the call was coming, what would you want to be doing with your days?
