Turn to the Teaching and Find the One Within

gurmukh hirdai jin raam pachhaataa.
The Gurmukhs recognize the Lord in their own hearts;
jagjeevan sayv jug chaaray jaataa.
they serve the Lord, the Life of the World. They are famous throughout the four ages.
ha-umai maar gur sabad pachhaataa.
They subdue egotism, and realize the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
kirpaa karay parabh karam biDhaataa. ||2||
God, the Architect of Destiny, showers His Mercy upon them. ||2||

In plain words

Those turned toward the teaching find the One right inside their own hearts. They serve the Life of the World and are remembered through all the ages. They quiet the ego and the Word becomes real in them, and grace pours down on them.

Those turned toward the teaching find the One inside their own hearts -- and grace pours down.
The deeper layer

The Gurmukh's discovery is interior -- the Lord in their own hearts (cf. the jewel within). Service and the subduing of ego go together, crowned by grace from the Architect of Destiny -- grace as the source and seal.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever found that what you were seeking was inside you all along?
