True are those who merge into the Word of the Guru's Shabad;
Dhaavat varjay thaak rahaa-ay.
they restrain their wandering mind and keep it steady.
naam nav niDh gur tay paa-ay.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the nine treasures. It is obtained from the Guru.
har kirpaa tay har vasai man aa-ay. ||3||
By the Lord's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
True are those who melt into the Word; they hold the wandering mind steady. The Name is the nine treasures, and it comes from the teacher. By grace, the One settles in the mind.
The Name is all nine treasures in one -- received from the teacher, settled by grace.
The Name is the nine legendary treasures, all wealth in one (cf. the only merchandise worth trading). It is obtained from the Guru and indwells by grace. Steadying the wandering mind recalls the drunken elephant -- the mind is held by absorption in the Word.
