The Gurmukhs are saved, while the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Why are you doubting? What is there to doubt? The One fills the water, the land, the sky. Those turned toward the teaching are saved; those who live for the ego lose their honor.

Why doubt? The One fills earth, water, and sky -- there is nothing to fear.
The deeper layer

Guru Arjan's hallmark reassurance: why doubt? The One is everywhere, so the verse invites trust rather than anxiety. The Gurmukh/manmukh contrast turns on this: trusting the omnipresent One saves; doubting loses honor.

A Question to Sit With

What is a worry that might shrink if you truly trusted that you are held?
