Once Your Eyes Open, the One Is Wherever You Look

ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੈ ॥

The Guru, of the most fruitful image, has placed His hand upon my forehead.

Wherever I look, there, I find Him with me.

The Lotus Feet of the Lord are the Support of my very breath of life. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The teaching, of the most fruitful face, laid its hand on my forehead.

Wherever I look, I find it with me. The One's feet are the support of my very breath.

Once your eyes are opened, you find the One with you wherever you look — a companion never absent.
The deeper layer

The verse pairs the blessing-gesture ("His hand upon my forehead") with the non-dual recognition: "Wherever I look, there, I find Him with me." Once blessed and awakened, the person sees the One everywhere they turn — the companion who is never absent. Presence is not occasional but constant, found in every direction.

A Question to Sit With

What would it be like to find the good 'with you' in whatever direction you turned?
