In plain words

We are all travelers,

gathered for a while under the great world-tree,

each bound by our own many ties.

We're all travelers resting briefly under one tree before flying on — a picture that holds life lightly and tenderly.
The deeper layer

We are all travelers, resting for a while under one tree.

sagal batree-aa — all are travelers. birakh ik taree-aa — gathered under one tree. Picture birds resting in the same branches for a night before flying on. Or kids at the same bus stop, each heading somewhere different.

This is our life together: short, and shared. Strangers and loved ones alike meet under one tree for a little while. baho banDheh paree-aa — each is tied by many bonds. Seeing life this way helps us hold it lightly and kindly. We are all passing through together.

A Question to Sit With

How might seeing everyone as a fellow traveler, briefly gathered, change how you treat them?
