In plain words

But the company of the good is eternal,

where the One's praises are sung.

Nanak seeks this shelter.

Of all the passing gatherings, one fellowship doesn't end — the company gathered around the good; that's the shelter worth seeking.
The deeper layer

One kind of friendship never ends: the company of the good.

thir saaDh safree-aa — the company of the holy lasts forever. jah keertan haree-aa — it is where the One's praises are sung. Keertan means singing God's praises together.

The last verse showed a short stay under the world-tree. This one shows a gathering that does not end. Among all the passing ties, the fellowship around the One's praise stays. Think of a song your family sings together at every birthday, year after year.

naanak sarnaree-aa — Nanak seeks this shelter. Not the passing ties that pull into the whirlpool, but the lasting company of the good. Of all gatherings, this one is worth belonging to.

A Question to Sit With

Which of your 'gatherings' feels like it has something lasting about it? How could you seek more of that?
