You Can Be Fully in Family Life Without Clutching

The Lord Himself infuses devotion into His humble devotees.

In the midst of family life, they remain unattached. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One pours devotion into its own devotees.

So they live right in the middle of family life, and stay unattached inside it.

You can be fully in the middle of family life and still not clutch — present and loving, without the desperate grip.
The deeper layer

This line says you can live fully inside family life without clutching it.

Bhagat janaa ka-o sarDhaa aap har laa-ee — the One puts love and faith into those who love the One. Once again, it is given, not made by us. And then: vichay garisat udaas rahaa-ee — right in the middle of family life, they stay free inside.

"Free inside" does not mean cold, or far away. It means loving without the scared, tight grip.

The old picture for this is the lotus. It floats on the water, fully in it, but it never drowns. This answers the first verse, which said our family is a gift placed with us. Hold your people, love them, laugh with them. Just don't squeeze them as if they were yours to keep forever.

A Question to Sit With

What would loving someone 'without clutching' look like in your closest relationship?
