Get the Loving Right and the Doing Takes Care of Itself

ਜਬ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
jab antar pareet har si-o ban aa-ee.
When inner love is established with the Lord,
ਤਬ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
tab jo kichh karay so mayray har parabh bhaa-ee. ||3||
then whatever one does, is pleasing to my Lord God. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Once love for the One is truly set inside you,

then whatever you do turns out pleasing to the One.

Get the loving right at the center, and the doing tends to take care of itself.
The deeper layer

This line says: get the love inside right, and your actions will follow.

Jab antar pareet har si-o ban aa-ee — when love for the One is truly set inside you, tab jo kichh karay so mayray har parabh bhaa-ee — then whatever you do pleases the One.

This does not mean you may do anything you like. It means good actions grow from a heart that loves well.

Think of an apple tree. If the roots are healthy, you don't have to glue apples onto the branches. Good fruit just grows. Take care of the love in the center, and the doing takes care of itself.

A Question to Sit With

If you tended the 'root' of what you love instead of policing every action, what might change?
