Cling to what is false and you become false yourself, and everything you do turns hollow.
Nanak says: it all unfolds by the One's Will; not one of us, finally, has the last word over it.
The close pairs a psychological law with a cosmic one. First: we become what we cling to — attach to the hollow and you hollow out; the deeds follow the heart. Second: the whole thing runs by hukam, the One's ordering Will, and no ego has the final say. Far from being grim, this is a relief — it lifts the crushing illusion that everything depends on our control, and returns us to the one investment that lasts: the One itself.
