The great greatness of the great Lord God - the Gurmukh speaks of this. ||6||

In plain words

I've wandered the whole world and seen it: the One alone is the Giver.

No trick or device gets you the One — it is the Architect of what unfolds. But through the Word the One comes to live in the mind and is easily revealed within; the fire of wanting is quenched, and you bathe in the One's pool of nectar. The Gurmukh speaks of the greatness of the great One.

No trick or device gets you the deepest thing — but it's given freely to the heart that simply turns.
The deeper layer

The sixth Pauree reports a traveler's conclusion: "the Lord is the only Giver," and "cannot be obtained by any device at all." No technique buys the One. Yet through the Word it "is easily revealed within," and "the fire of desire" is quenched in "the Lord's Pool of Ambrosial Nectar." What no scheme could seize is given freely to the heart that turns.

A Question to Sit With

What have you tried to get by 'device' that might only come when you stop scheming for it?
