Awe and Thanksgiving Are the Same Breath

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥
salok mehlaa 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਚਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ॥
vaahu vaahu tis no aakhee-ai je sachaa gahir gambheer.
Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is True, profound and unfathomable.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰੁ ॥
vaahu vaahu tis no aakhee-ai je gundaataa mat Dheer.
Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is the Giver of virtue, intelligence and patience.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
vaahu vaahu tis no aakhee-ai je sabh meh rahi-aa samaa-ay.
Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is permeating and pervading in all.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਦੇਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਬਾਹਿ ॥
vaahu vaahu tis no aakhee-ai je daydaa rijak sabaahi.
Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is the Giver of sustenance to all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਇਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak vaahu vaahu iko kar salaahee-ai je satgur dee-aa dikhaa-ay. ||1||
O Nanak, Waaho! Waaho! - praise the One Lord, revealed by the True Guru. ||1||

Cry 'Wonder!' to the One — true, deep, past all fathoming.

Cry 'Wonder!' to the Giver of goodness, wisdom and patience. Cry 'Wonder!' to the One who fills all. Cry 'Wonder!' to the One who feeds every creature. Nanak says: praise the One, revealed by the teaching.
