Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
By the One's Will you meet the teaching, serve it, and worship.
By the One's Will the One lives in the mind, and you easily drink its essence. By the One's Will you find peace and keep earning the true profit. Seated on the One's throne, you dwell at home in your own being. Only the one who meets the teaching surrenders to the Will.
The seventeenth Pauree is a meditation on hukam: everything good — the meeting, the indwelling, the peace, the profit — happens "by the Lord's Will." The repeated phrase dissolves the anxious sense that it all depends on our engineering. And the destination is homey: "he dwells continually in the home of his own being." Surrender to the Will is not exile but coming home to yourself.
Does surrender feel like loss to you, or could it be a homecoming? What would make the difference?
