Seeing them clears the wrongness out of me; they are my only true friends.
I've searched the whole world, Nanak says — how rare such people are!
Some people make you better simply by being near — their presence quietly recalibrates you; seek out those few.
A Shalok in praise of transformative company: just "the sight of them banishes my evil-mindedness." Some people make you better simply by being seen — their presence recalibrates you. And they are "rare" — a treasure worth searching "the whole world" for. The Vaar keeps returning to this: your company shapes you, so seek out the few who make you good.
A Question to Sit With
Who recalibrates you toward your better self just by being around? How could you see them more?
