Says Nanak, my hopes have been fulfilled, renouncing my greed in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||4||

In plain words

Peace comes and fear and doubt lift when the One turns merciful.

Nanak says: my hopes are fulfilled, my greed let go in good company.

Hope is fulfilled not by getting more but by wanting less — greed set down in good company, and the endless wanting quiets.
The deeper layer

The close names the fruit — peace, fear and doubt dispelled — and, tellingly, ties fulfilled hope to released greed: "my hopes have been fulfilled, renouncing my greed in the Saadh Sangat." The paradox: hope is fulfilled not by getting more but by wanting less. In good company the greed is set down, and the wanting that could never be satisfied simply quiets.

A Question to Sit With

What hope might be 'fulfilled' if you let go of the greed underneath it rather than chasing more?
