The most horrible agonies are dispelled in an instant, O Nanak, and we merge in the Blessed Vision of the Lord. ||2||22||

In plain words

When the Master shows mercy, we fix our love on the feet of the good.

The worst agonies lift in an instant, Nanak says, and we merge in the sight of the One.

The long weeping ends not by trying harder but by grace opening the door — and then relief comes suddenly.
The deeper layer

The close resolves the anguish of P0–P1 with mercy: when the One "shows His Mercy," the person is drawn to good company, and "the most horrible agonies are dispelled in an instant." The long wandering and weeping ends not by trying harder but by grace opening the door to the Sangat. Relief comes suddenly, once the door is opened.

A Question to Sit With

What long-carried agony would you love to see lift 'in an instant' once the right door opened?
